About sites

A project must contain at least one site. A site in XECUTE is a self-contained model and planning environment. It combines global definitions (like principal fields, activities, materials, and resources) with site-specific inputs (like block models, spatial data, activity areas, and haulage networks).

Each site represents an independent scheduling scenario. You can create multiple sites using the same base data (e.g., block models, topography) but configure each differently to test different strategies and compare outcomes. A site uses its inputs to generate a customisable schedule for execution and reporting. Each site can receive live data via Data Feed In and publish outputs automatically through Data Feed Out.

Sites are managed in Config, XECUTE’s setup and administration tool. While most users work in Client to build and publish schedules, Config is where you define the structure and inputs that power those schedules.

Site states

A site has an active state. You can toggle the state at any time. Minimising the number of active sites can improve performance on the server.

There’s also a Not Configured state. These sites don’t have enough inputs or configuration for a schedule framework to support a functional model and schedule. These items can be managed through the site’s Edit action.

Site options

On a site tile, you can perform several actions.

Action

Description

Edit

Opens a screen where you can edit the inputs and configuration that makes up the model and schedule framework. These items include the block model, topography, calendar, and haulage.

Visualise

Displays the material flow diagram for the site.

Start/Stop

Toggles the site between Active (running) and Ready (stopped).

Other options

Action

Description

Delete

Removes the site by dragging its tile to the bin icon.

Show Active Sites Filter

Hides sites that are not currently running.

System Configuration

Opens system-wide configuration settings that apply to all sites.

You can rename a site via Edit on the General and Calendar Settings screen.

Visualise

Visualise opens a window where you can preview the spatial components of a site without needing to open it in Client. This is useful for checking spatial accuracy and alignment of key elements during setup.

What you can visualise

The site model includes several spatial components. In the Visualise window, you can toggle the visibility of each:

Component

Description

Topography

Displays the surface terrain of the site.

Aerial

Shows aerial imagery (requires topography to be visible).

Block Model

Displays the geological block model.

Pit Limits

Shows the mining boundaries or pit limits.

Block Overrides

Displays editable override areas within the block model.

Feature Layers

Shows additional spatial layers such as infrastructure or environmental zones.

Grade Control

Displays grade control shapes.

Haul Roads

Shows the haulage network across the site.

Clicking a component (e.g. Feature Layers) displays all items within that category. You cannot select individual items.

Spatial domain visualisation

You can also select a spatial domain to view. This filters the visualisation to show data relevant to the selected domain.

Graphics settings

You can configure how the site is displayed using the Graphics Settings button. This includes:
